Day 218…

10.22.12

Good morning Monday!  Happy to have my pup back and ready to tackle the day after yet another interesting night of sleep (still having weird dreams), but feeling good otherwise.  The body is a bit tired from paintball and my 5 mile run, but the mind feels sharp…to work I go!

As with most Mondays it is a busy one.  The to-do list is lengthy and I’m diving right into work this morning.  It has been head-down all morning and before I know it half the day is gone.  I’ve been literally non-stop since I got to the office with various emails, proposals and such…everyone in the office is starving and wondering what happened with our lunch order….1230…1…130…2…yes, food finally arrives!  There was a glitch in the order so it got here super late.  The only good that comes out of this is that I got even more work done before taking a break for lunch…

Back at things and trying to be as productive as possible as I’m leaving a little early today with a co-worker (Monica) to take a trapeze class.  This is not something that I thought I would ever do, but it has always looked like fun from afar and she goes often, so hey, why not give it a try….finishing up here and then off Monica and I go to Chelsea Piers for our class…

The class is literally on top of Chelsea Piers (the top of pier 40)…they have set up the rig to have an unobstructed view of downtown and let me tell you – it’s gorgeous…after going through the obligatory safety lesson, I get harnessed-up, watch a few non-first timers (including Monica who is doing all these cool tricks) and then I climb the ladder for my first flight…While I don’t have the biggest aversion to heights, there is a quick moment of feeling uneasy when you get your first hand on the trapeze bar.  It is heavier than you expect it to be and gravity wants to pull you and the bar off of the ledge that you are on.  I quickly get over that, put my other hand on the bar and off I go…

Time to fly!

It’s such a cool feeling to be flying through the air, holding onto the bar and swinging back and forth.  They ask me to try and put my legs on the bar and then hang from them…it is easier than I expect it to be and so much fun to hang upside down ..we then work on doing a backflip when letting go of the bar…once all that is perfected  it is time to try and get caught by someone swinging on the opposite end of the rig…this, when I think about it, seems like it could be tough to do, but to my surprise I manage to get caught both times I try it…overall, I couldn’t recommend this more to people looking for two hours of fun and in a way that is different than usual…I will definitely be back come spring when they reopen, or maybe I’ll just join the circus :)

Class ends and we hit the subway to head home…I grab dinner on my way to my apartment, take Riley out, shower and then sit down to eat…while eating I find myself debating whether I should watch the debate or not…I fold and turn it on only to immediately regret it.  Just as frustrating as the last one, so I turn it off and head to bed…

It has been a busy last three days and I need to be up early tomorrow for my first session with my new trainer as I try to build my body back together…

Night all…
