Day 42…

4.29.12

SUNDAY! A great day to get some exercise and enjoy the beautiful weather.  Slept more or less ok and am excited to go run with Rene this morning…

Got in 3.5miles (so .5 more than last week) as I rebuild my running strength.  Ideally, I’d like to be in a place where I can knock off 4-5miles with relative ease as I go through treatment so that I can have a good foundation of cardio when the treatment is over and then I can get back to speed and distance work…less tired than after my last run, so I think that will benefit me for the rest of the day…

Errands, errands, errands, but all good things.  I went to the Runners Shop today and spent a good amount of time with them talking about various ways to additionally protect myself from the sun while running, and also ways in which to stay cool.  I ended up purchasing cooling compression sleeves for my arms which will enable me to wear UV short sleeve shirts and get some air in my body as opposed to having to wear long sleeve shirts with UV.  The compression sleeves have UV and cooling/wicking technology in them, so I’m excited to give them a try.  We struggled with what to do with the pant situation.  All the pants with UV in them are still pretty heavy in weight, which means they are HOT.  After some back and forth with Matt from the Runners Shop, I came up with the idea to use the compression sleeves on my legs since they run really large in size.  Perfect!  It works!  I have to say that the people that work at the Runners Shop are consistently the nicest around and it is really great that they genuinely care to help you with whatever running questions you have…

Bounced around with other errands and then back home to have Sunday family dinner…I’m exhausted now…dinner was great and I’m turning in early – have a big treatment day tomorrow so I hope I get some decent sleep as nights before Chemo tend to not treat me too well…will have to catch up on all my HBO shows this week…

Night all…

Day 41…

4.28.12

Hello weekend, so nice to see you again.  Feel good this morning as I got a decent amount of sleep last night.  Off to take Riley for her morning walk and then back to make a hearty breakfast…pancake time!  I got a new griddle so no better way to inaugurate it than by testing it out with some homemade pancakes, and let me tell you – they are good!

Going to meet up with my parents uptown and walk back.  Decided to bring Riley along for more exercise for us both and because she is bonkers today – but in a fun way…

Very excited to have lunch today with one of my closest friends from college who I haven’t seen in years as he has been living in his native Brazil…it’s really great to be able to see Carlos and pick up as if we have been hanging out everyday.  To bring things full circle, it is Knicks/Heat today to start the playoffs and it is literally as if we never left college – watching these two teams play, talking trash (Carlos is sadly a Heat fan).  Honestly, just makes me smile being able to do this…but not a smile as the Knicks got demolished.  Thankfully the Rangers won or else it would have been a total playoff loss for my teams today…

Off to a fun dinner with fun friends and then to get some needed rest before heading out tomorrow morning for my annual “Life Run” with Rene…

Have a great night everyone…

Day 40…

4.27.12

FRIDAY!!!! Great drive to work, feel great and ready to tackle the day, and let me tell you, it will be a busy one.  Have meetings in the morning and then it is off to casting callbacks.  Should be a very productive and long day…

Yep, productive and long, but really rewarding.  Feel like we have a great cast for our spots and just like many other things this week, it is just good to be active and part of things while I feel good…

Heading home later than any day from work since this whole ordeal has started, but aside from being hungry and tired, happy.  Here’s to hoping for a smooth ride and then a good night of relaxation…

Leftover pizza, Apple TV (episodes of LOST), my pup and then bed.  Good Friday night if you ask me…

Happy end of the week y’all…

Day 39…

4.26.12

Happy Thursday y’all!  Feeling good this morning and heading to work.  There is a lot on the list of things to do and I’m excited to do it…have some fun work things on the horizon, so it’s good to get out to a production house, and feel ‘normal’ again…

Went to a great lunch with Erin and Nicole – good to bring the work lunch outside of the office, yet still be productive.  Need those more often…

Getting really excited for later to watch the Ranger game.  Game 7, lots of anxiety and excitement.  Really hoping they win so I have many more weeks of hockey fun…came home to a wet pup from the rain which means one thing and one thing only – bath time!  Thankfully as she’s gotten older, she has grown to love the bath.  Gives me no issues when I try to dry her either (treats sure do help)…

Game on, time to order pizza (not going to make pizza tonight), watch the Ranger game and enjoy my night…RANGERS WIN!!!!

Night all…

Day 38…

4.25.12

Mid-way point of the week and I’m feeling great.  Lots going on at the office and it honestly feels like there is nothing wrong!  Meetings, calls, decisions – I love it…

Day continues to move along well, I’ve checked off a lot of things that had to happen and I’m looking forward to a full day at the office and then meeting up with GL for dinner…even though I’m aware of the requested precautions from my doctors about crowds, germs, etc., it is still humbling to head out and try to find a place to eat that isn’t packed with people sitting on top of one another. Safety first people! Safety first!…ended up at an old standby – Craftbar, which was as always, great…

Made it home around 930, walking Riley and then relaxing.  Days where I haven’t had a chance to just relax for an hour or so between work and meeting up with friends or eating dinner can be taxing, no matter how good I feel….allergies are out of hand tonight, have to take an allergy pill (thank god I can take one with all my other meds) and then off to bed…

Night all…

Day 37…

4.24.12

Hello Tuesday, so nice to see you on such fine terms this week.  Feeling good after some decent sleep (best I can hope for these days) and am off to work…thankfully the ride wasn’t nearly as bad as yesterdays, but still is taking longer this week on average than previous ones…

Tuesday’s are always packed full of meetings in the mornings and today was no different running through the morning and into the early part of the afternoon.  Finally able to sit down around 115 for lunch, and let me tell you, I’m starving!

Just getting lots done at work today and it feels great to do just that.  Always happy when my mind feels sharp and that we as a collective group are doing good work…

Relaxing at home, getting ready for dinner and bed.  Looking forward to some sleep…

Night all…

Day 36…

4.23.12

Happy Monday y’all.  Hope everyone is feeling great as I feel pretty good today, though I’m definitely a bit on the tired side.  Off to work I go…UGH, seriously, 45min to get to work!!!!  Honestly, every avenue in NYC was wall-to-wall traffic this morning.  So it goes, I’m here and feeling pretty good, so lets make the best of the day…

Meetings, work and general ‘get things done’ type of Monday so far.  Unfortunately, fatigue is beginning to set in waaaay early.  Will have to see how the day plays out…very tasty lunch today and feeling a little better, but have a feeling that the fatigue may get the best of me today…

Going to head home and try to take a nap – will see if that works as I may be the worlds worst napper.  Just can’t seem to nap, no matter how bad I need it…hanging with the pup on the bed, hoping to doze off…maybe caught a few min here and there, will just have to get to bed early tonight…

Time to make dinner (leftovers) and watch my Rangers try to pull out a victory and force game 7…YES! Success by the NYR…time for bed…

Night all…

Day 35…

4.22.12

Hello Sunday and hello rain :(

Feel very good today.  In fact, this is the best that I feel since treatment on Monday.  I think the combination of it being 6 days later as well as getting in a run has really helped me. So I’ve decided that I need to run at least once a week, if not more in order to mentally feel good and physically keep myself active, not too mention, I can’t stand feeling out of shape…

Today I’m going to take it easy, watch some early morning soccer (love that we can watch live EPL games on the weekend), catch up on some DVR and take Riley to Petco for food and supplies and for her, and of course to let her run around like a lunatic…

Mission accomplished – my pup is insane in that store.  Unfortunately one of the items that I bought is too small, so I have to go back and return it and pick up her 30lb bag of food that I wasn’t able to carry out of the store when she and I were there.  No biggie, just a minor hassel in the rain…

Going upstairs to see my friend Tara for a quick visit and then off to get Steph and come back to my apt in time for dinner with the fam.  My Mom is cooking up another amazing Sunday dinner, so I’m bringing my appetite…good thing I did, cause it was awesome.  We made pizza (successful this time) and thai marinated cod with roasted potatoes and veggies.  Great way to end a weekend…

Off to the couch to see if we can stay awake for Sunday TV…hope everyone had a great weekend!

Until tomorrow…Night all…

Day 34…

4.21.12

Good morning Saturday!

It’s the weekend and it is time for me to motivate and get out there for a RUN!!!  My running buddies Andre and Rene are heading over this morning and off to our training grounds, otherwise known as Central Park we go.  I’m really excited, a bit nervous and overall, just really happy to know that no matter what, I’m running for the first time since treatment began more than a month ago…Sunny, light jog, 3miles in the books and I feel so happy!  A bit too warm for me as I haven’t been able to get lighter-weight SPF running gear that covers the body from the sun yet, but just so great to be out there…Got home, drank some fluids and got a touch of nausea (I would guess from all the moving around), but a few saltines later and I feel good again…

Bels, Sam and Alex have made their way to the apt as well to join Rene, Andre and I for some bagels and just good hanging.  Should be a good end to the morning/start to the afternoon…I was right, it was.

Resting on the couch before my parents and family friends come by for a quick visit…always great to see them…off to walk Riley once more before dinner with Steph….yum, Korean BBQ.  Fun to cook our own food at the table.  Always forget how close it is to the apt…

I’m exhausted.  Big day, lots of action, time for bed…

Night all…

Day 33…

4.20.12

Well, we’ve made it to Friday everyone!  So happy to make it here and do my part to put a rough week behind me and look forward to the weekend and further ahead to a hopeful, positive feeling next week.  There is always something about Friday in NYC and traffic that just never ceases to amaze me.  So it goes.  As long as I make it to work unscathed (me and my car), I’m a happy camper…made it to work, but got hit a bit early with my chemo-Friday headache.  Again the cycles rear their ugly head.  I’m going to see if saltines and some liquids make it better as opposed to pills.

Morning meetings and then some lunch.  So far the headache has decided to play nice, though the nausea crept in a bit, just before…

Day is moving along, things are getting done and the end of the week is near.  I’ve decided that pending I feel ok, I’m going to try and go for a run tomorrow.  I really need to get out there, if not so much from a physical perspective (which I definitely need), but more from a mental perspective.  I feel like running will just give me another weapon in my arsenal against this cancer and prove that it won’t keep me down.  Wish me luck!  Not to worry though, I will run with friends so that I’m not alone, and to play it safe…

Time to say goodbye to work friends and get the car and head home…looking forward to a walk with the pup before meeting friends for dinner….annnnnd 45min later I make it home. Traffic was horrendous.  Again, Friday traffic, WTF…

Dinner was great and I’m exhausted.  Off to bed for some rest before a Saturday run!

Night all…
